Two survived the sinking of the Carl D. Bradley - 33 didn't.
Twenty three of the 33 were from Rogers City
Five from the surrounding areas of Posen, Onaway and Metz.
A total of 28 sailors from Presque Isle County lost their lives.
Webmasters' note:
The population of Rogers City was probably around 5000 + at the time of
the Bradley's sinking, and there
was not one Rogers City resident who wasn't impacted by this
tragedy in some manner.
I was only 14 at the time, but I still think back to all the kids that I played
with, and went to school with,
who lost a family member. In some cases it was a father, and in others, a
brother or perhaps an uncle.
